I have taught creative nonfiction and life writing in a range of settings, from schools, universities and writing retreats to conferences, literature festivals and prisons. I can assemble life writing courses for beginners through to experienced writers, ranging from weeklong retreats and one day or 2 hour focussed workshops.
Over the last decade, I have run courses or given talks at retreats, schools, colleges and universities including Arvon Lumb Bank, Moniack Mhor, The Garsdale Retreat, Edge Hill University, University of York, The University of Salford, the Northern Light Writers Conference and extensively in prisons across the northwest. I have also lectured in creative nonfiction at The University of Lancaster.
I offer limited mentorship for memoir and essay writers (mentoring booked up until autumn 2026).
